The seven details
What makes a hair patch look natural?
Natural appearance comes from 7 linked decisions: the right coverage, a believable hairline, a base suited to the edge, matching colour, restrained density, correct growth direction and a careful cut. Maintenance then keeps the perimeter, texture and blend from revealing the system.
- Template only the area that needs coverage.
- Place an age-appropriate, irregular hairline.
- Choose lace, skin or hybrid for the visible edge.
- Match colour in daylight, including grey percentage.
- Keep density compatible with the sides and back.
- Ventilate or style hair in a believable direction.
- Cut and blend while the system is fitted.

How should the front edge be designed?
A natural front usually has graduated density, small irregularities and a position that respects forehead proportions and age. Fine lace or thin skin can both work, but an edge cannot compensate for excessive density, the wrong colour or adhesive residue left visible after wear.
A frontal hair patch needs especially careful templating because the edge is seen at conversation distance.
Upkeep
Why does servicing affect realism?
Even a precise fitting can become noticeable when hair oxidises, density sheds unevenly, residue collects or the edge lifts. A 3–4-week service rhythm is a common planning point, adjusted for skin, activity and weather. Gentle daily handling preserves movement and keeps the blend controlled.
Common questions
What else should you know?
These answers cover practical starting points in 40–60 words. A stylist can explain fitting and care; a dermatologist should assess symptoms, allergies, scalp disease or unexplained hair loss.
How often does a bonded hair patch need servicing?+
Most bonded systems are checked, cleaned and reattached every 3–4 weeks. The interval can shorten with heavy sweating, oily skin, frequent helmet use or Kolkata’s humid monsoon weather. Your stylist should set the first interval after seeing how your scalp and chosen attachment behave.
Can a hair patch be removed again?+
Yes. A bonded system is reversible and is removed during servicing with products suited to the adhesive and base. A clip-on system can usually be removed daily. Pulling or using household solvents can damage the base, natural hair or scalp, so ask for a removal demonstration.
Which hairline looks most natural?+
A graduated hairline with varied spacing usually reads more naturally than a dense, straight wall of hair. Fine lace and thin skin can both work when the edge, colour and attachment suit the wearer. Placement and cut matter as much as the base label.
